Have you got a question you need to answer? Are you feeling stressed about school or home?
Meditation can be a great way for you to get some quiet time. You may also like to ask some questions about anything at all, or you may just want to take time to think about what you are doing at school, at play or maybe even how to make something.
Meditation allows time to think. It allows you be alone with your thoughts. So let’s take a ride together to find the answer and take the time to relax. Below is a meditation that you can ask mum or dad to read to you while you relax and enjoy the ride.
To begin, find a nice a place to sit down with your back straight and your legs crossed.
Close your eyes and take a nice big deep breath in and let it out. This time, breathe in, hold for the count of 2, then let the breath out. Try to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Keep breathing in and our like this 4 more times.
Now see yourself standing at the train station. There is a train at the platform. It is in your favorite colour. The engine has writing on it; it’s your name this is your train. You stand on the platform and look at your train. It can be any type of train you want - a freight train, a steam strain, a passenger train, any train that you like.
You walk up to the train and climb up the stairs leading to the driver’s seat; this is your train to drive. You push the gears forward and your train slowly moves out from the station.
You travel along the train line. Up ahead there is a hill and your train slowly makes its way up the side of the hill, all the time saying, “I know I can! I know I can! I know I can!”
You reach the top of the hill and start to come down the other side with the wind blowing in your hair. You feel very free.
At the bottom of the hill is beautiful country side and another train station. You stop at the station and climb down onto the platform. Waiting there for you is a friend. Your friend is there for you to ask any question you want to, or they can just be there to play with you, it’s all up to you.
Spend some time now with your friend. When it is time to go back to your train, the whistle will blow.
(Mum or dad allow your child to have 2- 5 min here depending upon their age)
Toot toot, your train whistle is blowing. It’s time to say goodbye to your friend and climb back aboard the train for your journey home.
As you leave the station you wave goodbye but know that you can visit your friend anytime you like. Your train moves back through the country side and back to the hill. It climbs the hill with ease and races back down to your train station.
When you get back to the station you turn off your train and climb back down on to the platform. Now that you are back wiggle your toes and fingers and slowly open your eyes. Stand up and have a big stretch.
If you want to, now is a great time to write down what you saw, heard or did in your meditation. Write this down in a book just for you. You can read back on it later.
